ISDN

ISDN is a digital network providing digital connections between terminal equipment for supporting a wide range of telecommunications services (voice and data).

  • digital telephony and fax;
  • videotelephony;
  • remote access to a local computer network;
  • dial-up Internet (with or without password);
  • high data speed;
  • for ISDN BRI the speed is up to 128 Kbps or simultaneous Internet surfing at the speed of 64 Kbps and telephone calling;
  • for ISDN PRI the speed is up to 1920 Kbps;
  • data transmission;
  • video conferencing;
  • value-added services.

With only one subscriber line you can install telephones in a small office or activate additional telephone set at home.

ISDN network integrates the capabilities of both fixed telephone network and data network. Within the ISDN network equipped with corresponding terminals all the services are provided with the higher quality. First of all, ISDN provides reliable communication protected against electrical interference.

Service arrangement

ISDN network connection implies direct connection to a digital telephone exchange of Ukrtelecom JSC.

Connection types:

  • ISDN BRI (two B-channels with a carrying capacity of 64 Kbps each and a D-channel with a carrying capacity of 16 Kbps;
  • ISDN PRI (thirty B-channels with a carrying capacity of 64 Kbps each and a D-channel with a carrying capacity of 64 Kbps).

In case there are no available ISDN PRI ports in Ukrtelecom JSC telephone exchange then, upon agreement with the subscriber,  a temporary connection is provided using other alarm systems (including R2D and other types supporting digital thirty-channel connections) till the telephone exchange is modernized.

General

1. Rates for ISDN services are set in the form of a schedule of rates (plans).

2. Rates are applied by the Ukrtelecom branches providing such services.

3. Monthly subscriber fees include fixed fee for telecommunications network access charged by Ukrtelecom JSC for its subscribers independently whether the services have been provided or not, and minimal service package.

The subscriber pays minimum service fee included into the monthly subscriber fee independently on the amount of services provided during the month.

Minimum service package includes the following:

  • local, long-distance (within a region and the territory of Ukraine) and international telephone calls (CIS and other foreign countries) and fax;
  • telephone calls and other messages exchange with subscribers of mobile carriers (accessing through codes of mobile carriers);
  • international telephone calls to subscribers of global (satellite) networks;
  • 800 service;
  • forwarding of calls to numbers of 800 service users;
  • dial-up Internet service (if technically feasible);
  • value-added telecommunications services;
  • value-added Internet services.

The following order of minimum package service fees are offered:

  • local, long-distance and international telephone call services;
  • international telephone calls to subscribers of global (satellite) networks;
  • telephone calls and message exchange with subscribers of mobile carriers (accessing through codes of mobile carriers);
  • fees for forwarding service to numbers of 800 service users;
  • monthly fee for 800 service provided;
  • fee for dial-up Internet service (if technically feasible);
  • monthly subscriber fee for value-added Internet services;
  • fee for value-added telecommunication services.

4. Rate setting for local, long-distance, international telephone calls and fax communication via each B-channel is made independently according to the current Maximum Rates regulated by the state.

5. Fees for services provided beyond the minimum package are charged additionally.

6. When  changing the ISDN service period from three months to permanent ISDN connection, the subscriber pays difference between corresponding rates.

7. The subscriber is provided with the terminal equipment (ISDN modem, adaptors, etc.).

8. ISDN line is arranged independently on the coverage area of the telephone exchange providing ISDN services.

Legal persons financed from the State (local) budget should submit a finance body reference confirming their complete financing on the account of the State budget in order to apply the rates for state financed enterprises, organizations and institutions.
